The author DJing at The Shank back in the day
Let’s take a gander at some pieces I’ve had published on Bandcamp Daily since August 2024 (last time I posted about it). I realized recently that in a little more than a year, I’ve had approximately 50,000 words published on Bandcamp Daily.
I dunno, that seems like a lot. I don’t see much reaction, so that’s a bummer, but hey, it’s out there.
All of my pieces (except for my contributions to the Tape Label Report) can be found HERE.

I broke down D.C. scene hero (Autoclave, Slant 6, Quixotic, Casual Dots) Christina Billotte’s career HERE—
I wrote a guide to post-rock/total-rock paragons Trans Am HERE —
They didn’t use my original take on the intro, so I rewrote it. But I might post the original intro on Anonymous Cave in the future. Why? Cuz it’s fun.
I wrote about the great 1990s NYC band Railroad Jerk HERE —
I wrote a guide to avant-garde institution Nurse With Wound HERE —
I wrote about some very good, and quite overlooked, psychedelic bands that were plying their trade in 1990s Pacific Northwest. I follow some of them into the current century as well. Check it out HERE —
I wrote a guide and primer on math rock HERE —
I talked to and wrote a piece about an archival release for early 1980s NYC noise rock band Bag People HERE —
I wrote about post-hardcore and the DIY scene that thrived in the 1990s. Solid Brass Records is helping reissue and recontextualize that scene for those who were there, and those who should look to it for inspiration.

This most recent piece is a breakdown of indie label Teen Beat Records and a guide to some of its classic releases. Go HERE —
I also have done some Album of the Day write-ups:
SPIN AGE BLASTERS has done a couple fill-ins on WFMU recently:
A short story published on Hobart Pulp:
A couple poems published on Do Not Submit:
I wrote a piece about Property Is Theft aka the P.I.T. in Williamsburg/Los Sures, Brooklyn for Brooklyn Rail. This appeared in print in the Dec/Jan 2024 issue.
Thanks for sticking with it.
p.s. I’m looking for writing gigs! I write great copy, including promotional materials, music and non-music. Please get in touch (please don’t use AI).
p.s.s. I’m also looking for any sort of work at all in the NYC area. I have no pride, and even less money. Cheers.
